| Zoom Wins "Best
Of Show" At Internet Telephony Conference And Expo
Award Goes To Zoom ADSL X5v
Plus VoIP
Boston, MA, November 1, 2004-- Zoom
Technologies [NASDAQ: ZOOM]
announced today that its Model 5585 X5v DSL modem with built
in VoIP has been named a "Best of Show" winner at
Technology Marketing Corporation's Internet Telephony, Conference
and Expo, Fall 2004. The Best of Show awards emphasize innovative
technology and creative product feature sets as well as forward
looking products which serve as a base for future industry
developments. Each winner submitted a thorough application
and displayed their product on the Internet Telephony Expo
show floor.
X5v, the first product in the ZoomTel VoIP product line,
allows the use of standard single-line phones for conventional
calls or free and very low cost Voice over IP (VoIP) calls.
The X5v integrates Internet telephony with a full-featured
ADSL gateway and includes an ADSL modem, router, firewall,
four-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch, USB port and VoIP phone
port.
In addition, the local phone port of the Model 5585 includes
an intelligent relay, which allows a single phone to place
and receive VoIP calls and calls over the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN). PSTN Fail-Over allows the X5v to
automatically route calls over the dial-up phone network when
power is lost, and PSTN support also provides emergency dialing
using established emergency dialing services like "911"
in the U.S. or "112" in Europe.
